Use Case: City of Maaseik
The city of Maaseik wanted to breathe new life into its center. Not with a boring campaign, but with something that made people want to get out and gave local businesses a boost. That’s how the idea for a big, cheerful prize draw came about.
The End-Of-Year 2025 giveaway: Win up to €200 in shopping money!
From December 1, 2025 to January 11, 2026, residents had six weeks to participate and get a chance to win back the amount of their purchases, up to €200 per entry.
How it worked
People shopped locally in Maaseik, Neeroeteren and Opoeteren.
They uploaded their receipts digitally via the campaign page, no paper envelopes, no trips to a submission point. Participation was possible anytime, anywhere.
Using the QR code or the website, participants could photograph and upload their receipt.
All purchases at participating stores counted, from a meal at a restaurant to gifts, clothing or household items.
Our part of the story
We built the digital playground: campaign page where participation was effortless. Everything ran smoothly, and the city immediately had insight into how many people were taking part and when the campaign really started to pick up. This made it much easier for the communications team to adjust on the fly.
A welcome boost for the stores
For local businesses, it was real treat. The campaign gave their shops extra visibility and drew people in who knew there was a prize to be won. The combination of digital exposure and physical presence in the center created a constant flow of curious visitors.
Why it worked so well

What it meant for us
For Coupontools, it was amazing to see how a simple prize draw could create so much positive momentum. It proved how powerful a well-organized campaign can be when the right communication channels are combined and residents are engaged in an accessible way.
The energy that lingered
Maaseik wanted life in its city center. The prize draw delivered exactly that: a cheerful idea that grew into a successful campaign enjoyed by residents, businesses, and the city itself. And we were thrilled to be part of building it.
